My Norwegian Neighbors in the "Valley of the Elves"

Since I am somewhat of a genealogy buff, I am able to trace my family history back to Norway via two different lines, but always end up in Valders, an area north of present day Oslo.

Sometimes one doesn't have to travel very far to be a tourist. Just a few miles southwest of Baraboo, Wi, is Natural Bridge State park, the home of the largest natural arch in Wisconsin.

Breakfast With Marilyn Monroe

There is an inn called "Greunke's First Street Inn" in downtown Bayfield, WI. My father wanted me to see it because it was the inn many of his deer hunting friends from Argyle, WI, stayed at while deer hunting in northern Wisconsin.

It was time to do a road trip to northern Wisconsin with my 82 year old father to see a friend and his old deer hunting "haunts." We had to decide what vehicle to take, my 1998 Dodge Caravan/2001 Honda Accord or his 1996 Ciera Olds.
